Bhopal: Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan said that after the Model Code of Conduct for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023 came into force, continuous action is being taken actively by the enforcement agencies in the state. Illicit liquor, narcotics, cash, precious metals, gold, silver, jewellery and other materials are being seized by the joint monitoring teams of FST, SST and police formed to conduct the assembly elections 2023 in an independent, fair and transparent manner.
Joint teams have taken action to seize various materials worth Rs 331 crore 97 lakh 95 thousand 231 from October 9 to November 12. This included cash amount worth Rs 38 crore 49 lakh 21 thousand 904, more than 31 lakh 95 thousand 570 liters of illicit liquor worth Rs 62 crore 9 lakh 10 thousand 379, intoxicants worth Rs 17 crore 2 lakh 83 thousand 691, precious metal, gold-silver, jewellery worth Rs 92 crore 74 lakh 99 thousand 233 and other materials worth Rs 121 crore 61 lakh 80 thousand 24 have been seized.
During the Model Code of Conduct in the year 2018 assembly elections in the state (between October 6 to November 28), action worth Rs 72 crore 93 lakh was taken by the enforcement agencies, while this year in the 2023 assembly elections (between October 9 to November 12) seizure action of more than Rs 331 crore 97 lakh has been taken.
