Bhopal: Due to the moisture coming from the Arabian Sea as well as the northerly winds, moderate to dense fog is expected at many places during the next 24 hours amidst severe cold at many places in Madhya Pradesh.
In Madhya Pradesh, the process of fog along with chill has been going on for several days at many places in Chambal and Gwalior divisions. Datia was the coldest in the state. During the last 24 hours the mercury in Datia dropped by more than 05 degrees. Datia was the coldest in the state. The mercury dropped to 10 degrees Celsius in Bhopal. The minimum temperature in Gwalior was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in hill station Pachmarhi was 11.4 degrees Celsius. There was moderate fog in Bhopal today and visibility was recorded around 200 to 500 meters. Cold wave also occurred in many districts.
Direction of winds is northern
At present the direction of the winds is northern and north-eastern. In the state too, the temperature has started falling during the day as well as at night. Due to high humidity in the atmosphere, fog persists in most of the cities of the state in the morning. Also, it is cloudy at some places. A slight increase in temperature may be seen after 13-14 January. A cyclone is forming over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh.
Scientists of Bhopal Meteorological Center said that the weather pattern in the state may remain dry during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate fog can be seen at some places in Ujjain district of the state. Apart from the districts of Satna, Sagar and Chambal divisions including the capital Bhopal, moderate to dense fog can be seen in Jabalpur, Indore, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Gwalior and Datia districts.
The weather remained dry in the capital Bhopal today. Relief from cold was felt due to light sunlight. The weather will remain dry with fog expected during the next 24 hours.
