Mohd Yunus returns to Bangladesh to head interim government

Dhaka, Aug 8 (UNI) Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus returned to Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon, from Paris, to take charge as head of the interim government amid an unprecedented political crisis gripping the country following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.

Yunus arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:10pm.

Preparations have been made for the swearing-in ceremony of the interim government at Bangabhaban at around 8 pm, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Yunus was welcomed at the airport by the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman and others.

At a press conference on Wednesday, General Waker had said that the interim government might consist of around 15 members.

It is not known who will be included in this government. There is a lot of discussion in the political arena about the list of names. Another topic of discussion is how long this government will last.

It is known that the Students Against Discrimination has prepared a list of 15 names for the interim government.

The list will be finalized after discussions with Yunus.
