Patna, (UNI) Highlighting the achievements of Bihar in the agriculture sector, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Friday said that the state was progressing at an accelerated pace and assured more financial assistance from the centre to its farmers.
Chauhan conducted a meeting here to review the preparedness regarding the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bhagalpur on February 24.
Chauhan chopper could not take off, given the bad weather, forcing him to hold the meeting in the state capital.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Bihar agriculture minister Mangal Pandey and senior officers attended the meeting.
On the occasion, Chauhan said he reviewed the agriculture scenario of Bihar thrice and found the state making remarkable progress in the sector. He assured that the financial assistance to the farmers of Bihar would be increased and stressed the need for research in Makhana, mushrooms, honey and lichi.
Chauhan said that during his Bhagalpur visit on February 24, the Prime Minister would kick start several schemes.
Meanwhile, Bihar agriculture minister Mangal Pandey termed the prime minister’s proposed visit as an important step towards development of agriculture and said that the centre has assured farmers would be given special research teams which would conduct various research related to farming and the use of technology in the agriculture sector.
