Jabalpur, Oct 5 (UNI) In a blitzkrieg against the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused it of perpetrating scams running into thousands of crores in the pre-2014 era, disrespecting freedom-fighters and mocking even Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Addressing a public meeting in this divisional headquarters of election-bound Madhya Pradesh, the visiting dignitary averred, “Those financial inconsistencies made banner headlines. Funds that were meant to be expended on the indigent were instead filling Congress bigwigs’ coffers.
Present-day youth may use Google for learning what used to be the abysmal plight of the nation. One Congress Prime Minister went on record saying that if a rupee is sent from New Delhi only 15 paise reaches the end beneficiary. The ‘hand’ pilfered the rest!”
A ‘cleanliness campaign’ was initiated even in this context by the BJP dispensation, the Prime Minister said, adding that information technology was used as a medium for demolishing the corrupt system created by the Congress.
“As many as 11 crore spurious names were struck off government records. These were individuals who never took birth but served as a channel for loot of official finance. The Congress made fake documents and the rights of the actually impoverished were snatched. That party is livid as its commissions have dried up. In the post-Independence period, the Congress did not accord due respect to the towering personalities who struggled for casting off the foreign yoke,” Modi alleged.
When a political party is intoxicated by selfishness alone then its condition can well be imagined, the Prime Minister said, adding that the Congress has its gaze riveted on the power saddle.
“For decades after 1947, the party in power only bowed at the feet of one family. Freedom and development were not attained by a single household! While abusing the BJP, the Congress has begun targeting Bharat itself. It believes the country’s foes, including terrorists, but not our Army. It questioned the novel coronavirus vaccine. Incidentally, a new film named ‘The Vaccine War’ showcases how our scientists saved lives,” he observed.
Modi expressed satisfaction over the fact that a Delhi store sold khadi products worth more than Rs 1.5 cr on Gandhi Jayanti this year.
He performed bhoomi-pujan for the ‘Veerangana Rani Durgavati Smarak aur Udyaan’; inaugurated Indore’s Light House Project; laid the foundation stone of multiple Jal Jeevan Mission ventures for Mandla, Jabalpur and Dindori districts; dedicated to the nation a similar project in Seoni district; laid the foundation stone and dedicated projects for improving road and rail infrastructure besides the Vijaipur-Auraiya-Phulpur Pipeline Project.
The PM laid the foundation stone of the Nagpur-Jabalpur section of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline Project. The Prime Minister also dedicated a bottling plant.
The combined expenditure of these ventures exceeds Rs 12,600 crore.
