On the instructions of PM Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the allocation of about Rs 15 thousand crore for railway projects of Madhya Pradesh in the budget presented on Thursday.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told in the virtual press conference held late evening on Thursday that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, in the last 10 years, the strategy for the development of railways has been changed and emphasis has been laid on maximum investment, which will increase capacity, modernization, safety on railways. And more attention has been paid to passenger facilities. In the year 2024-25, a budget provision of Rs 2.52 lakh crore has been made for Railways, which is the highest so far. In this, 3 big corridors will be built in the Railways, in which Energy, Mineral and Cement Corridor, High Traffic Density Corridor and Port Connectivity Corridor will be built. The construction of these corridors will boost economic development in the country. Along with this, 40 thousand coaches will be prepared as per the standards of Vande Bharat.
Railways invested Rs 77 thousand crores in MP
Vaishnav said that the work on railway projects in Madhya Pradesh is going on at a very fast pace. Work is being done in the state with an investment of Rs 77 thousand crores. 100 percent railway lines in Madhya Pradesh have been electrified. 80 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme. 972 flyovers and road under bridges have been constructed on the railway track. Along with this, 69 stalls of one station-one product are being operated to promote local products.
Madhya Pradesh is a very big state
Vaishnav told about Madhya Pradesh that Madhya Pradesh state is a very big state. Till the year 2009-14, Madhya Pradesh was getting an average budget of only Rs 632 crore per year, which has been increased by the Prime Minister to Rs 15,143 crore in the budget for the year 2024-25, which is the highest budget allocation till date. In the Railway Budget press conference of the Railway Minister, apart from the media persons from the capital, Divisional Railway Manager Bhopal Devashish Tripathi also remained virtually connected through video conferencing in the Divisional office.
