MP : Modi is maintaining silence over price rise: Priyanka

Kukshi (MP), Nov 6 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday used India’s most popular sport cricket to slingshot a verbal assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the context of “high prices.”

Addressing a rally in this town of election-bound Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, the visiting leader averred, “During Congress rule at Centre, Mr Modi himself said, ‘We will witness whether Sachin (Tendulkar) scores a century in the World Cup first or onion prices cross the Rs 100 per kg mark. Did he not say that? Now I wish to tell him that Virat (Kohli) has hit a ton and so has onion and the dispensation is yours (Mr Modi’s).

Now what do you say? His mouth is shut. First tomatoes were selling at prohibitive prices and now it is onion.”

Resting her left hand on her waist in an aggressive stance and gesticulating repeatedly, Mrs Priyanka termed inflation and unemployment as the country’s worst hurdles.

“Joblessness is the most severe in a 45-year period, the MGNREGS has been deliberately weakened, agrarian income nosedived, demonetisation and GST dealt a death blow to small trade, women’s reservation in legislatures is a mirage, the Agniveer Scheme shortsighted and a caste census is imperative,” she added.

In the context of this state, the Congress General Secretary alleged that the BJP regime made no less than “22,000 hollow announcements over 18 years. Numerous scams were perpetrated including that in the Professional Examination Board.

The dispensation runs on commissions, tribal folk are insulted, 17 rapes committed daily and government posts are lying vacant – the figure is higher than 90 per cent in the health sphere.”
