Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway: 7 killed, 4 injured in head-on collision between two cars

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, June 29 (UNI) Seven people were killed and four others seriously injured in a head on collision between two cars near Kadavanchi village in Jalna district, Marathawada, Maharashtra on Friday night, Police officials said on Saturday.

According to the sources, the unfortunate incident occurred around 2300 hours, on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi expressway last night, when an Ertiga going from Nagpur to Mumbai was hit hard by a Swift Dzire coming in the opposite direction.

The collision was so severe that one of the cars jumped and fell on the barricade on the expressway, seven occupants of these cars died on the spot, while four passengers are reported to have been injured in the accident.

Injured passengers have been admitted to the government hospital for treatment at Jalna. The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. Identification of the deceased is underway by the police. The incident is causing outrage in the area.

Meanwhile, the rescue team, Samruddhi Highway Police, and Jalna Police rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed of the accident. They removed the bodies, and sent them for a postmortem.
