Murder case: SC extends BSP leader’s interim bail till July 26

New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday extended till July 26 the interim bail granted to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh MLA Uday Bhan Singh in a triple murder case in which he is undergoing life imprisonment since 1999.

The vacation bench of Justice AS Oka and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah also issued notice to the state’s Principal Home Secretary on Singh’s plea alleging inaction by the state authorities on a Court order directing his premature release.

In April, Singh was granted interim bail till July 9.

A Contempt petition was filed on June 27 by Advocate on Record (AOR) Divyesh Pratap Singh on behalf of Singh, saying that the Apex Court orders to grant him remission were not complied with by the UP government.

The Former MLA had earlier applied to the Supreme Court for remission (premature release) which was allowed by the Apex Court.

The Top Court considered his remission plea as the co-accused had already been granted pre-mature release.

The State Authorities were directed by the Top Court to dispose of his remission application within 6 weeks from the date of the April 29 order.

The matter will now come up for a hearing on July 26.
