NABARD, J&K Officials review progress of sanctioned projects of roads and bridge

Jammu, Dec 9 (UNI) The Chief Engineer, PWD, Pir Panjal Zone, Anil Pandohi, and Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Sanjeev Sharma on Monday reviewed the physical progress under 307 rural connectivity projects sanctioned under ongoing tranches of RIDF with an assistance of ₹1130.00 Crore at a meeting in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi Districts of the Union Territory.

Reviewing the progress of PWD (R&B) under RIDF, the CE PWD directed all divisions to work in close coordination to resolve the issues hindering the pace of progress on road as well as bridge projects.

He directed the officials of PWD to grant special attention to the projects, that are categorized as Projects yet to be Grounded (PYGs), and facilitate the grounding of such projects at the earliest.

He also directed the PWD officials to ensure the timely submission of Project Completion Reports to NABARD.

During the review, the PWD officials provided updates on the status of PYG projects, and placed before the chair, the challenges that are being faced during the implementation of such projects.

AGM, NABARD, briefed the house about the importance of the construction of rural roads and bridges in hilly areas, which are mostly covered by tribal population and also stressed upon providing road connectivity to every village in the UT.

He advised the officials of the department to ensure the submission of expenditure claims for projects falling under the tranches that are nearing closure.

He urged the department officials to grant special focus on adhering to quality standards and maintaining environmental compliance during the implementation of road projects.

Moreover, he directed the District Development Manager, NABARD, Rajouri, Chander, to identify critical infrastructure gaps in the district, which can be fulfilled through RIDF support, and advised him to work in close liaison with PWD for smooth implementation of RIDF projects.
