Moscow, Feb 23 (UNI) NATO is becoming a means of containing the United States itself due to the contradictions between the European elites and Washington, the deputy director general of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and member of the Russian Security Council’s science board, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Alexander Yakovenko told Sputnik.
“Having lost support from overseas, the European elites are fighting for their survival. That is why they have taken [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy as an ally. The bet on continuing the war is aimed at disrupting the Russian-US normalization. At the same time, NATO is becoming a means of containing the US itself, which has decisively said goodbye to the liberal agenda,” Yakovenko said.
The conservative wave means a tough reformatting of the US policy, but European political leaders are going against what is becoming the geopolitical mainstream and risk ending up on the “US menu,” the official added.
