NATO secretary general visit Germany on Nov 4

Moscow, Nov 2 (UNI) New NATO secretary general Mark Rutte will arrive in Germany on an official visit on November 4, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said.

“On November 4, 2024, at 14:30 [1330 GMT], Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz will receive NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who will arrive on his first visit, with military honors in the Federal Chancellery,” Hebestreit said.

He said that during the talks, Scholz and Rutte will discuss security in the Euro-Atlantic region.

In early October, Rutte took office as NATO Secretary General, replacing Jens Stoltenberg. In his first speech, he said that Ukraine should get a place in the alliance, and also named increasing aid to Kiev among the priorities on his new post.

Russia says arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement and directly involve NATO countries in the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said any cargo containing weapons for Kiev would be a legitimate target for Russia.
