Netherlands starts new vaccination campaign against COVID-19

The Hague, Aug 28 (UNI) The Dutch government announced on Tuesday a new COVID-19 vaccination campaign for people aged 60 or over and those at increased risk.

“This will restore their protection against hospitalization or death from the virus,” said the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in a press release.

“People who want a vaccination for individual reasons, for example because of a vulnerable family member or on the advice of a treating physician, can also get it in the autumn round,” the ministry specified.

The vaccination will start on Sept. 16 and last until Dec. 6.

“Coronavirus is still here and can revive again,” the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) said in a press release.

Vaccination will also be available for people aged 18 to 59 who receive an annual invitation for the flu jab. The vaccine is also available for healthcare workers.
