New technology should be used in public interest: CM

  • Programme on civil infrastructure at CSIR-AMPRI

Bhopal: Two days event of CSIR – One Week One Theme (OWOT) programme on Theme “Civil Infrastructure And Engineering” (CIE) was inaugurated on 5th September 2024 at CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (CSIR-AMPRI), Bhopal. Under the umbrella of this programme, CSIR-AMPRI, Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and International Council of Consultants (ICC) jointly organized CSIR-OWOT-CIE & CIDC-ICC CONCLAVE-2024 on the topic “Empowering Future Infrastructure With Innovative Technologies & Brand Connect”.

CM Dr. Mohan Yadav was the Chief Guest at the function and joined the programme through online mode. Krishna Gaur, Minister of State was special guest at the function.

At the outset, Dr. Avanish Kumar Srivastava, Director, CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal welcomed the guests and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the origin and purpose of celebrating OWOT programme.

Infra works are the backbone: CM

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that infrastructure works are the backbone on which economic and inclusive development policies take shape. We should recognize the power of technology, make good use of it, and fulfill the resolve in the interest of society so that along with this generation, the coming generations too can benefit.

CM said that the conference should consider infrastructure development, environment, health, innovations, etc. holistically. In the era of new technology, only continuous discussions on one platform will open new paths and doors for inclusive development. Every possibility should be explored for the betterment of the state and construction.

CM said that we have to emphasize building effective and flexible infrastructure to protect against natural disasters and climate change crises. The pace of construction will also have to be increased by adopting new methods. There are immense possibilities in the field of construction. There is also scope for improvement in reducing construction costs and resources. Today there is a need to adopt environment-friendly construction materials and construction processes. Weather-based construction also needs to be considered holistically, CM added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister (S&T) and Vice President of CSIR, has proposed the observance of the ‘One Week One Theme’ (OWOT) event in 2024.

Dr. Asokan Pappu, Chief Scientist, CSIR – AMPRI, Bhopal provided brief overview of CSIR –OWOT-CIE programme. Dr. P. R. Swarup. Director General, CIDC, New Delhi addressed the gathering. He spoke about the concept of Manrega scheme which emerged out of M.P.

After the inaugural function, technical sessions were held on Rural Infrastructure & Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Trenchless Technology and Integrated Technology. Dignitaries from various organizations participated in these sessions. Presentations were made by eminent speakers and technical discussions were held during these sessions.

After sessions, dignitaries visited to Centre for Advanced Radiation Shielding & Geopolymeric Materials (CARS&GM) of CSIR-AMPRI.
