Now cancer will be identified with AI technology

  • AIIMS and IISER Bhopal are developing technology

A joint team of AIIMS Bhopal and IISER Bhopal is developing a technology using deep learning and AI techniques that will automatically detect head tumors and neck cancer. Under a program organized by TDK Corporation Japan and Gopalkrishnan Deshpande Center (GDC) of IIT Madras, this team has been selected for the TIIC Accelerator Program 2024.

Professor (Dr) Ajay Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal said that we have to turn our thinking into reality so that the suffering of the patients can be reduced. Together, we will do something in the treatment of the patient that can bring a change in their life. This partnership will help in developing modern equipment used in the complex treatment of the patient. In the coming time, we will be able to jointly develop AIIMS Bhopal as a center of excellence in central India. This project is being led by Dr. Rajesh Pasricha of the Radiotherapy Department of AIIMS Bhopal. His team includes medical physicist Avnish Mishra, resident doctor Srinivas Reddy and Dr. Arvind. While Dr. Tanmay Basu, Dr. Vinod Kurmi and Dr. Firoz Suri are from IISER Bhopal.

This technology is not available anywhere in the world

TDK Corporation Japan and Gopalakrishnan Deshpande Center (GDC) of IIT Madras help startups in developing new technologies. Through this project, such technology will be developed which will automatically detect head tumors and neck cancer. This technology can bring revolutionary changes in radiotherapy, this technology is not available anywhere in the world at present. The team will participate in an eight-week workshop at IIT Madras, where they will improve their technology and find ways to use it commercially.
