New Delhi, July 24 (UNI) A day after the presentation of Union Budget 2024-25, INDIA bloc MPs led by the Congress on Wednesday held protests inside and outside parliament, including slogan shouting at the Makar Dwar, alleging that the Union Budget is “discriminatory and against the principles of federalism”.
During the discussion on Budget, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We condemn the Budget. It has no balance… no development.”
The Budget is deceptive and lacks “nyay”, he said, after the Opposition walked out of upper house.
The Opposition MPs included Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Sawant, Kalyan Banerjee, Sanjay Singh, among others, joined the protests outside the House.
The leaders held placards which read ”NDA betrays INDIA in Budget” and “Stop attacks on fiscal federalism”.
They raised slogans against the government demanding equal treatment to all states.
As a mark of protest against the Budget, Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States have decided to boycott the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog meeting to be held on July 27.
