Outcome of US presidential election makes no difference to us: Russia

Moscow, Nov 6 (UNI) Russia has said the outcome of the US Presidential election makes no difference to Moscow given the bipartisan consensus in the United States “regarding the confrontation toward our country”.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in answer to a media query regarding the presidential election, also said in reference to the Ukraine war, that the next US president should focus on solving the country’s problems and “not look for adventures tens of thousands of miles away from the US coast”.

“In general, it makes no difference for Russia what the election outcome will be, given the two-party consensus that emerged in the United States regarding the confrontation toward our country.

“If anything changes in the US policy and any proposals to us appear, we will be ready to examine them in terms of matching Russia’s interests. In any case Russia will resolutely defend its interests, particularly where national security is concerned.”

“It would be logical for the next US president, whoever he or she may be, to focus on solving own country’s problems and not looking for adventures tens of thousands of miles away from the US coast.”

“We wish the American nation to overcome the crisis of democracy and the split in society.”

The answer was given on Tuesday, ahead of the declaration of Donald Trump as the incoming 47th US president.
