- Voting for Vijaypur and Budhni by-polls from 7 am today

Voting for the Vijaypur and Budhni assembly by-elections of the state will start on Wednesday at 7 am, which will continue till 6 pm. Preparations for voting have been completed in both the assembly constituencies. Tight security arrangements have been made here. In both the areas, 5 lakh 31 thousand 616 voters will decide the fate of 31 candidates. Mock poll will be held before voting. During this time, BLS of political parties will also be present.
According to Chief Election Officer Sukhbir Singh, 327 polling stations have been set up for the by-election in Vijaypur. 2 lakh 54 thousand 817 voters will participate in the voting process. There are 2 lakh 54 thousand 714 general voters, out of which 1 lakh 33 thousand 581 are male voters. There are 1 lakh 21 thousand 131 female voters.
There are 103 service voters. 11 candidates are trying their luck here. Similarly, 363 polling stations have been set up in Budhni assembly constituency. There are 2 lakh 76 thousand 604 general voters, out of which 1 lakh 43 thousand 197 are male voters. The number of female voters is 1 lakh 33 thousand 401. The number of service voters is 195. 20 candidates are in the fray here. 2 thousand 760 officers and employees have been assigned election duty to conduct by-elections in both the assembly constituencies.
1500 armed forces deployed
For smooth voting in both the assembly constituencies, about 1500 armed forces, 1500 district police forces and adequate number of home guards and special police officers (SPOs) have been deployed for security. More than 100 sector magistrates and more than 100 sector police officers have also been deployed in both the assembly constituencies, who will visit their respective sector areas during the entire period of polling.
This time the Election Commission has also made arrangements to install GPS on the vehicles of police sector officers, so that if any kind of disorder is reported in any centre, the nearest sector magistrate and other officials can be informed immediately. The sectors of the sector magistrate have been decided by the commission in such a way that they can reach any polling booth under them within just 15 minutes. Chief Electoral Officer Sukhveer Singh has appealed to the voters of both the assembly constituencies to vote freely and fearlessly.
