Washington, Nov 4 (UNI) More than 78 million have voted early in the November 5 presidential election in the United States, the University of Flordia’s Election Lab said.
“Total Early Votes: 78 003 222 • In-Person Early Votes: 42 654 364 • Mail Ballots Returned: 35 348 858 • Mail Ballots Requested: 67 456 847,” the data, last updated on Sunday, showed.
On Saturday, the Election Lab said that almost 70 million Americans have already voted in election — 36.5 million Americans voted early in person, and 32.5 million by mail.
The previous elections were record-breaking in terms of the number of early voters — more than 101 million people cast their votes by mail or in person before the election day mainly due the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, curent Republican nominee Donald Trump accused the Democrats of fraud due to the large number of votes cast by mail. But in this election cycle, the former president also urged supporters to go to the polling stations in advance. Incumbent President Joe Biden has already cast his vote in the election.
