- Stopped on way to CM House
Bhopal: Thousands of patwaris from all over the state gathered in Bhopal on Saturday. After being on leave for the last 3 days, the Patwaris took out the Tiranga Yatra in the capital. They proceeded towards the CM House from Atal Path (Boulevard Street), but the police did not allow them to proceed further. The police had closed the road before the CM House by placing barricades.
After they were stopped by the police, Patwaris sat on the road itself. They left only after protesting for 2 hours. Kotwars also participated in this demonstration. All of them are agitating in support of various demands including hiking the honorarium. They said they could go on an indefinite strike from August 28 if the demands are not met.
The tricolor march of Patwaris started at 11.30 am. State President of Madhya Pradesh Patwari Sangh Upendra Singh Baghel said that the tricolor march was being taken out peacefully till the CM House. It was not a demonstration of any kind, but it was stopped on the way by the police. Patwaris from across the state including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Shajapur, Vidisha, Raisen and Sehore participated in the demonstration.
Patwaris on leave from 23 to 25 August
State President of Madhya Pradesh Patwari Sangh Upendra Singh Baghel told that we are doing a phased movement. In the first phase, from August 21, all of them had left the government group and boycotted online work. In the second phase, from 23rd to 25th August, they were on mass leave for 3 days. Now on August 26, the Tiranga Yatra was taken out in Bhopal.
Demonstrating on these demands
Patwaris in Madhya Pradesh are being given salary in 2023 according to the pay scale fixed in 1998. There has been no increase in the pay scale of Patwaris of the state in the last 25 years. Whereas, the pay scale of all the promoted posts (Revenue Inspector, Naib Tehsildar, Assistant Superintendent Land Records, Tehsildar, Superintendent Land Records) of the Department of Revenue and the Department of Land Records, has been hiked many times
Other demand
- The pay discrepancy of the time scale should be rectified.
- Patwaris should be promoted as revenue inspector, Naib Tehsildar and Tehsildar .
- Other allowances related to house rent and traveling allowance should be increased.
