Moscow, Aug 19 (UNI) At least three people have been injured by a pipeline explosion at a petrochemical plant in the Russian city of Sterlitamak, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the mayor’s office told Sputnik on Monday.
“According to preliminary data, three people have been injured at the Sterlitamak petrochemical plant by an explosion and fire on a pipeline in the petrochemical plant. Regional and city rescuers, employees of the enterprise and the city administration are working on the site,” the mayor’s office said.
Those injured have been hospitalized, the local emergency services said.
The firefighters are extinguishing the fire burning on the gas pipeline caused by depressurization, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told Sputnik, adding that data on the victims is being clarified.
Meanwhile, the emergency services said that the fire in Sterlitamak had been localised.
