Warsaw/New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Warsaw, in the first visit by an Indian PM to Poland in 45 years.
In a post on X, PM Modi, who is on a two-day official visit at the invitation by his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, said his visit will add momentum to the bilateral relations.
“Landed in Poland. Looking forward to the various programmes here. This visit will add momentum to the India-Poland friendship and benefit the people of our nations.”
The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a post on X, said the PM was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport.
“PM@narendramodi sets foot in the historic city of Warsaw.
“Accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport.
“This visit holds special significance as India & Poland are commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations this year.”
In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said his visit to Poland comes as the two nations mark 70 years of diplomatic relations.
“Poland is a key economic partner in Central Europe. Our mutual commitment to democracy and pluralism further reinforces our relationship.”
He said he looks forward to meeting his friend Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to further advance the partnership. “I will also engage with the members of the vibrant Indian community in Poland.”
