PM Modi meets former Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth, LoP Georges Pierre Lesjongard

Port Louis/New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with former Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and Leader of Opposition Georges Pierre Lesjongard in Port Louis today.

In posts on X, the PM said:

“Had a good meeting with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.”

“Met Mr. Georges Pierre Lesjongard, MP and Leader of the Opposition. We had a constructive exchange of views on aspects relating to boosting India-Mauritius friendship.”

The MEA spokesperson posted:

“PM @narendramodi met with former PM Pravind Jugnauth @KumarJugnauth in Mauritius today.

“They reaffirmed their support for the enduring India-Mauritius relationship.”

On the meeting with the LoP, he posted:

“PM @narendramodi met with Leader of Opposition Mr. Georges Pierre Lesjongard of Mauritius today.

“Discussions focused on strengthening our special India-Mauritius relationship.”

According to Mauritian news reports, the former PM Pravind Jugnauth had a private meeting with PM Narendra Modi. The meeting was not on the official calendar. PM Modi was originally scheduled to meet only Joe Lesjongard.

Pravind Jugnauth, who was PM from 2017 to 2024, is out on bail after his arrest on money laundering charges in mid February. He has denied the charges.
