PM Modi presents four BHISHM medical Cubes to Ukrainian President for emergency healthcare

Kyiv/New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday presented four BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita & Maitri) Cubes to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. These Cubes consist of medicines and equipment to provide first line of care for all kinds of injuries and medical situations.

President Zelenskyy thanked Prime Minister Modi for the humanitarian assistance. The Cubes will help in expeditious treatment of the injured and contribute to saving precious lives, a statement said.

Each BHISHM Cube also includes surgical equipment for a basic Operation Room that can manage 10-15 basic surgeries per day.

The Cube has the capacity to handle about 200 cases of diverse nature in emergency situations such as trauma, bleeding, burns, fractures, etc. It can also generate its own power and oxygen in limited amounts. A team of experts from India has been deployed to provide initial training to the Ukrainian side to operate the Cube.

The gesture underscores India’s continued commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, the statement added.

PM Modi said on X:

“Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita & Maitri (BHISHM) is a unique effort which will ensure medical facilities in a rapidly deployable manner. It consists of cubes which contain medicines and equipment for medical care. Today, presented BHISHM cubes to President @ZelenskyyUa”.

“The indigenously built BHISHM Cubes consist of medicines and equipment for the first line of care for all medical situations. The Cubes will help in expeditious treatment of the injured in Ukraine.

“The gesture underscores India’s commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.”

Prime Minister Modi also interacted with Ukrainian students who are learning Hindi language at the School of Oriental Studies in Kyiv.

Prime Minister appreciated the scholarship of the students and their contribution to promoting mutual understanding between the people of the two countries. He also commended their efforts to bring Indian culture and history closer to the Ukrainian people.
