PM Modi to launch projects worth Rs 4,027 cr in Bihar on Wednesday

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a series of projects worth Rs. 4,027 crore in petroleum and natural gas sector in Bihar on Wednesday.

These projects aim to provide cleaner, sustainable fuel and promote the production of materials aligned with the government’s Make in India vision.

According to an official statement, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. is developing a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network across five key districts of Bihar—Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar—with an investment of Rs. 3,638 crore. This project is seen as a crucial step towards meeting India’s net-zero emissions targets by promoting the use of natural gas.

The initiative includes the commissioning of new CNG stations and the construction of an extensive carbon steel pipeline network that will transport natural gas from Begusarai to Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar.

In addition to the CGD network, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Bitumen Manufacturing Unit at the Barauni Refinery of Indian Oil, with a cost of Rs. 389 crore. The unit aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported bitumen, contributing to the country’s economic self-sufficiency and generating savings of approximately $1.1 million in foreign exchange.

The increased demand for bitumen, driven by infrastructure projects like Bharatmala Pariyojana, makes this initiative crucial for ensuring the timely availability of essential materials for infrastructure development.

These projects are expected to accelerate industrial development in Bihar, serving as a catalyst for economic growth and creating new opportunities for prosperity in the state.
