PM to address three election rallies in Bengal

Kolkata, May 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold as many as six election rallies for BJP candidates in Bankura, Purulia and Medinipur later Sunday and on Monday, ahead of West Bengal’s sixth phase polling on May 25, BJP sources said on Sunday.

Modi, the face of saffron brigade forces for the third straight term of the NDA government at the Centre, is expected to hold a rally at Purulia in favour of sitting MP Jyotirmoy Mahato around 12.45 pm.

Then he will move to neighbouring Bishnupur in Bankura to campaign for incumbent Soumitra Khan around 2.30 pm and then proceed to Medinipur for canvassing for BJP candidate and former judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay.

Modi is expected to have a night halt at Raj Bhawan in Kolkata on Sunday and on Monday will address two rallies at Jhargram and Ghatal in Midnapore, the day coinciding with Bengal’s fifth phase polling for seven Lok Sabha seats.

Elections will be held in Bongaon, Barrackpore, Howrah, Serampore, Hooghly, Uluberia and Arambagh Lok Sabha constituencies on May 20.

Before coming to Bengal, Modi is scheduled to address a rally at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
