16 lakh people screened at open borders and airports, screening on at 21 airports : Javadekar


New Delhi , Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the government is pro-actively engaged to deal with coronavirus with every step underway to deal with the situation which has struck the world. Briefing mediapersons about the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet, the minister said that video conferences on a daily basis are being held with all state governments in view of the COVID-19 and measures with realtime data being shared regarinf the situation. He said that screening of passengers has staretd at 21 important airports on the country and six lakh passengers have been screened so far.Javadekar said that the screening of people is also taking place at the open borders where around 10 lakh people have been screened.In view of the tests and other aspects related to the new virus around 19 new virology labs are also being setup in the coming two days Mr Javadekar said.This situation arising out of the corona virus problem has been taken up as a matter of priority and is part of the cabinet meetings , the minister added.The minister also said that a quarantine facility has been setup in Gurugram's manesar while Indians rescued from an infected Japanese ship
