7 deaths in corridor in two-and-half year


Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal A delegation of Congress party led by their corporator Ashok Maran has submitted a memorandum to the collector pointing out that accidents are continuing unabated in the BRTS corridor in Sant Nagar. Through the memo, the Congress delegation has demanded that the road from Sant Nagar to Misrod is six-lane. A corridor was constructed under this on which only BMC buses were to ply. But other vehicles freely ply on the corridor leading to accidents. The number of mishaps has increased after the BRTS corridor became operational.The Congress memo pointed out that fatal accidents are regularly taking place on the Sant Nagar Sehore Naka to Santji Kutiya. In 2016, 10 accidents took place in which 3 people died and 14 were injured. In 2017, 14 accidents took place in which 2 people died and 12 were injured. In 2018 up to May, 7 accidents have taken place in which 2 people have died and 6 have been injured. The memo said the corridor should be discontinued to prevent further accidents in the corridor and it should be made single divider like New Market.
