Another Vikas Dubey aide held post encounter in UP

Kanpur, (UNI)

An accomplice of most wanted criminal Vikas Dubey was arrested following an encounter by the police in the Chaubeypur area of this Uttar Pradesh district, early Wednesday morning.

Police sources said that the police had taken Shyamu Bajpai, a resident of Bikru village, to the Muddi ke Baye jungle at the Shivli road for the recovery of some hidden arms. After he alighted the jeep, Shyamu opened fire at the cops with a country-made pistol hidden in the land. In the retaliatory fire opened by the police, the accused sustained a bullet wound in his leg, following which he was arrested.

The arrested individual has been accused of attacking the police team on Thursday night. Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.

However, there is neither any criminal record of Vikas's neighbor Shyamu nor any case was registered against him before this incident, sources added.

Earlier, in a major breakthrough, Uttar Pradesh police's Special Task Force (STF) gunned down sharp shooter Amar Dubey, a henchman of Vikas Dubey on Wednesday.
