Bhopal Tamil Sangam celebrates Pongal at Career College 


Bhopal: Bhopal Tamil Sangam celebrated Pongal with fervour and festivity by observing religious rituals and bonhomie at the Career College Auditorium, BHEL here today. Pongal is a Hindu Harvest festival of South India, particularly celebrated by the Tamils. The celebration is marked with the worship of Hindu Sun god for expressing gratitude for agricultural abundance.
Major attractions of the events were exclusive song performance from Thiagarajan PRM of Chennai , India's emerging talent in Kathak Swati Pillai Performance on Ganesh Vandana and Navdha Kathakalaya group performance , M.Lavanya's group performed traditional folk dance forms , Revathi Sastri's group performed Bharatanatyam and Sarita's group performed musical dance performance.
 K S Masthan, Minister for Minorities welfare and Tamil Welfare, Govt of Tamil Nadu said that unity among all communities and oneness is exemplified in this Pongal celebration. Pongal is one of the biggest festivals for Tamils and it is such a delight to participate and experience the enthusiasm of people in Bhopal.I extend my best wishes to Tamilians of Bhopal who celebrate the Thai Pongal festival.
 S Arul, President, Lions Club , J Chandrasekaran, A P Muthu Naraayanan and R Natesan , Lions Club , Vriddhachalam, Tamil Nadu, Manish Rajoria , chairman, Career College and D Subodh Singh, Chairman, NRI Group were present on the occasion as special guests. M Agarchand, Chairperson Lion Club, Vriddhachalam, Tamil Nadu said that Thai Pongal is a multiday Hindu harvest festival celebrated by Tamils to thank the Sun, Mother Nature and the various farm animals that help to contribute to a bountiful harvest. 
A Swami Durai, General Secretary, Bhopal Tamil Sangam said, Our association was founded with the objective to unite the Tamil families living in Madhya Pradesh and to promote and preserve the rich heritage of Tamil language and culture.
