COVID-19: MP Govt doled out Rs 38,000 cr to needy

Members of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Council were furnished details on Tuesday – in the Chief Minister’s presence – regarding financial benefits and relief provided to citizens under various schemes during the COVID-19 crisis. 

The ministers in attendance comprised Dr Narottam Mishra, Mr Tulsiram Silawat, Mr Kamal Patel, Mr Govind Singh Rajput and Ms Meena Singh. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains was also present.

In Mr Chouhan’s words, “The economy has indeed sustained a body blow. In order to reduce the populace’s quandaries, my dispensation made timely arrangements for online payment of funds vis-à-vis welfare of each segment. This translated into direct benefit for the commoner.”

As many as 24 departments disbursed Rs 38,000 crore as scholarship, pension plus under labourer and cultivator support progreammes. Mr Chouhan himself interacted with migrant workers, pupils plus other beneficiaries including Saharia, Baiga and Bharia tribal folk through videoconferencing.
