COVID-19 alarm in Jammu as test reports of 2 quarantined arrive, schools shut

Jammu, The Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Saturday raised first coronavirus alarm after health authorities received test reports of two quarantined persons with travel history to South Korea and Italy,All schools up to primary level have been shut till March 31 in Jammu and Samba districts."Test reports of the two suspected patients from Jammu received. Both high viral load cases. High probability of testing positive. Both suspected cases kept in isolation at GMC Jammu. Stable," Director of Information Dr Sehrish Asgar here wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.She further said that all protocols being followed. Both cases had left hospital against medical advice and had to be brought back. Appeal to public to cooperate fully wherever quarantine is advised.

Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal, who is also the government's chief spokesman of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory said that all primary schools in Jammu and Samba districts till March 31 will remain shut.
In a series of tweets, Mr Kansal also announced suspension of biometric attendance at government offices till March 31. An appeal has also been issued to people seeking cooperation wherever quarantine is required.
All this was necessitated by undesirable test reports of two persons already quarantined for travel history to infested areas, he added.
