COVID-19 scare: No congregations in Himachal, gov't issues advisory


Shimla,  Himachal Pradesh Government on Thursday issued an advisory directing state authorities not to hold any mass gathering or congregations till further orders in the wake of a few suspected cases of the novel coronavirus in the state. Taking suo motu cognisance of the pandemic virus spread in the state, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said in state Assembly today, "I direct the state official to stop all public function, mass gathering and congregations, till the danger of an epidemic of Coronavirus is not ruled out."

He apprised that state government was advised by the Union Health Ministry to immediately follow the necessary precautions to check the spread of this contagious disease.Mr Thakur assured the House that the state is fully equipped to contain and prevent the outbreak as 428 people who have recently arrived from COVID-19-hit nations been immediately scanned for the trace of virus and kept under observation by the state Health Authorities. "There is no need to fear as no positive case of COVID-19 has been registered in the state so far." he averred.
