CPI condemns presence of Bhagwat in Ram temple Bhoomi pujan ceremony

New Delhi, (UNI)

Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday strongly condemned the presence of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) head Mohan Bhagwat with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bhoomipujan ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya and called it a violation of the Constitution and against the principles of a secular state.

CPI General Secretary D Raja in a release here said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 5 last year abrogated Article 370 from the Constitution and now organised the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony in Ayodhya on the very same day.

He alleged since 2014 when the BJP came into power at the Centre and Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, the party has been implementing the agenda of the Sangh in the country. "First, he partitioned Jammu and Kashmir and now there are people in jails.

Yesterday, he completed the agenda of Hindu Rashtra of the Sangh Parivar by doing Bhoomi Pujan with Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by his side," Dr Raja alleged.

The statement further alleged that those who were questioning this government, were being threatened by the RSS Sangh Parivar, who were fabricating lies of a new India and controlling social media to mold and change people's thinking.

Claiming that "political activists and leaders of political parties opposing the government, are constantly facing oppression and their voices being suppressed", he said, the corporate world and the nationalists are very enthusiastic about what happened in Ayodhya yesterday, while the economy of the country is suffering due to COVID-19 crisis and workers and people in the unorganised sector are under distress.

The CPI leader said his party and the Left parties would face this challenge and fight further to defeat the 'communal fascist' forces to save the Indian Republic.
