Front line workers get training at Walmi in groundwater conservation



Bhopal-Under Atal Bhujal Yojana, a two-day gram panchayat level front line worker training and workshop was organized at MP Institute of Water and Land Management (Walmi). 200 front line workers of Jan Abhiyan Parishad participated in this workshop held on 19th and 20th September.
In the workshop, Shri Subodh Yadav, Joint Secretary and National Coordinator in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, interacted directly with the volunteers from 6 districts of Atal Bhujal Yojana, New Delhi, Bundelkhand Zone.
Shri Subodh Yadav said, “Government wants to make people aware through ground water scheme so that they can make Atal Bhujal Yojana a success by bringing water conservation into their practice. This scheme is being operated in seven states. The scheme has been implemented in those places of the states in the country where ground water is less or has reached the verge of running out.”
Dr. Jitendra Jain, State Program Director, Atal Bhujal Yojana, gave a welcome address and informed that in the workshop front line workers from 9 blocks of 6 districts falling under Bundelkhand region were informed in detail. It was told that how they can make people aware and increase the underground water in their area.
Subodh Yadav told that the front line workers who came to the workshop were also told how they can organize meetings, gram panchayats in the village of their district or block. Front line workers will not only disseminate the mass message issued by the government in these areas, but they will also embody the works under the scheme by coordinating with the people.
Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department, Mr. SN Mishra, Mrs. Urmila Shukla, Director Valmi, Dr. Umesh Balpande Director and Mrs. Niti Nagi, Deputy Director, NPMU New Delhi, World Bank representative Mr. Arun, who were present in the workshop. Doval, Shri BR Naidu Director General and Dr. Dhirendra Pandey, Executive Director, Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Shri MS Dabur, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department, Dr. Rana Chatterjee, Director, Central Ground Water Board were present.
