Governor Smt. Patel launches Sari based on Khajuraho World Heritage Series


Weavers carved Kandariya Mahadev temple on Sari

Bhopal-Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel today launched a Sari at Raj Bhavan based on the temples of Khajuraho prepared by the weavers of Madhya Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation under the Khajuraho World Heritage Series. Managing Director of Handicrafts Development Corporation Shri Rajiv Sharma and General Manager Shri Mahesh Gulati were present on the occasion.

Governor Smt. Patel appreciated the Kandariya Mahadev Temple engraved on Sari by the weavers and said that it is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship and result of the hard work of artisans. The Governor was informed that the weavers of Chanderi and Maheshwar carved the temples of Khajuraho on saris. The next plan of the Handicrafts Development Corporation is to develop a series of clothes based on the Ghats of Maheshwar and the Fort of Gwalior.

On this occasion, Governor Smt. Patel was presented Angavastra by the officials of the Handicrafts Development Corporation, in which the weavers have created the Buddhist Stupa of Sanchi.
