Bhopal, (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan electronically transferred a total Rs 451 crore to 1,78,417 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) from Mantralaya on Thursday, it was officially learnt.
This includes Rs 360 cr to 1,44,152 recipients as the maiden instalment at the rate of Rs 25,000 each. A sum of Rs 91 cr was disbursed to 34,265 individuals as the second, third and fourth instalments.
While interacting with beneficiaries via videoconferencing, the seasoned politician averred, “Everyone dreams of owning a pucca abode and the PMAY aims at making it a reality. Under this, the cost is shared by the Centre and state on 60:40 basis. A beneficiary receives Rs 1.20 lakh in parts. Moreover, wages are paid under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme for labour in construction. Thus far, 18.85 lakh people have benefitted and of them 15.94 lakh completed their dwellings.”
Those who expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister were Dhannalal, Anantram, Madan Bharti, Badri Dhakad, Pancham Singh, Shyamlal, Khuman Singh, Maithilisharan Namdev, Dwarika Bai, Chhote, Kallu, Lakhan, Sawailal Baiga, Ramlal Baiga, Babulal, Purandas, Yuvraj Uike and Munesh.
Mr Chouhan urged them to maintain all precautions against COVID-19.
“Labour-intensive work has commenced in rural areas. Be sensitive towards workers coming to your villages,” he added.
