MP’s jailbirds to be vaccinated


Bhopal, June 10 (UNI) As part of endeavours to scotch the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Madhya Pradesh administration on Thursday directed all 52 district collectors to ensure inoculation by July 15 of all prisoners numbering approximately 49,000 at a total 131 correctional facilities.
The order – in the wake of a high-level committee’s meetings during May and June – bears the signatures of Additional Chief Secretary (Jails) Rajesh Kumar Rajora and his Health Department counterpart Mohammed Suleman. The immunisation process commenced on June 1. Those remanded in custody are to be incarcerated only subsequent to undergoing a COVID-19 test. Thus far; about 7,100 inmates have been inoculated.
