NMDC gets 5 star rating

NMDC, India's largest iron ore producer, received a total of nine 5-star ratings for three years for all its operational iron ore mines viz. Kumaraswamy, Bacheli Deposit 5, Deposit 14 NMZ and Deposit No. 10 at the 5th National Conference on Mines and Minerals. Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi felicitated NMDC Director Production Dilip Kumar Mohanty for the company's sustainable mining efforts. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Coal and Mines Prahlad Joshi chaired the 5th National Conference on Mines and Minerals and allocated more than 52 mineral blocks to the State Governments. He also launched an e-portal to ease the accreditation process. The Ministry of Mines has given 5 star rating for the years 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 to the mines following sustainable and responsible mining practices.
Receiving the award from NMDC, Director Production Dilip Kumar Mohanty said, “As a major stakeholder in the Indian mining industry, it is our responsibility to implement energy efficient and sustainable production processes. The five star rating is a testimony to our commitment towards environmental protection.

Congratulating the team on the award, Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC said, “Our mining complexes have moved towards digitization over the years. NMDC has adopted safe, scientific and environment friendly methods of mining which have minimum impact on the environment. We continue to make progress on various initiatives of environment and energy conservation in line with our motto.
