PM to meet start-ups ahead of Budget 2022


New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Ahead of Budget 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would meet groups of start-ups from across various sectors such as agriculture, health, enterprise systems, space and fintech.
More than 150 start-ups have been divided into six working groups based on themes like Growing from Roots, Nudging the DNA, From Local to Global, Technology of Future, Building Champions in Manufacturing and Sustainable Development.

Each group will make a presentation before the PM on the allotted theme in the interaction.

"The aim of the interaction is to understand how start-ups can contribute to the national needs by driving innovation in the country," an official statement said.

Agriculture, infrastructure, start-ups and fintech are expected to be the key focus areas of the Union budget that would be presented on February 1.

Modi has been a great proponent of start-ups and strongly recommends the youth to join the entrepreneurial bandwagon and contribute towards nation-building.

India has been among the countries where start-up ecosystem has been steadily growing. It has emerged as the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world after the US and China.

The country has seen more and more start-ups joining the Unicorn (firms valued at USD one billion or more) club.

"Government has worked on providing an enabling atmosphere for boosting the growth and development of Start-ups. This has had a tremendous impact on the start-up ecosystem in the country, and has led to a staggering growth of unicorns in the country," said the Prime Minister's Office.
