Parliament nod to Central Sanskrit Universities Bill


New Delhi,Parliament gave its nod to the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2019 after the Lok Sabha on Friday approved two amendments made by the Rajya Sabha.Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' presented the amendments which were passed with voice vote.In the enacting formula of the bill at page one, word 'Seventieth' was substituted with 'Seventy-first' and in Clause one, at page one, line three, figure '2019' was substituted with '2020'.

The Bill seeks to convert Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (New Delhi), Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (New Delhi) and the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (Tirupati) into Central Sanskrit Universities. The draft law provides for establishing and incorporating universities for teaching and research in Sanskrit, to develop all-inclusive Sanskrit promotional activities.
