Politics heats up over OBC reservation

  • We’ll give 27 pc reservation to OBCs: Kamal Nath

 Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
In Madhya Pradesh, politics has heated up over OBC reservation in local body elections. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said that the Congress party has decided that we will give 27% tickets to OBC candidates in the elections. Going a step further, BJP state president VD Sharma has said that we will give more than 27% tickets to capable OBC workers.
Congress made a big attack on BJP and Shivraj government regarding OBC reservation. Said that both want to take forward the agenda of RSS. The government did not put up a strong stand in the Supreme Court. The result of this is that the Supreme Court has given the decision to conduct panchayat and urban body elections without OBC reservation. Former minister Kamleshwar Patel said that if the BJP and Shivraj government have the intention of giving reservation to OBCs, then a special session of the assembly should be called immediately. From here, send a proposal to amend the constitution. There is a BJP government at the Center as well.
The Congress demanded that not only Madhya Pradesh, but OBCs should be provided 27% reservation in the entire country. The way the Indian Constitution was amended to give 10% reservation to the general category, in the same way, the BJP government brought an amendment bill to give reservation to the backward classes. Patel said that such a provision can be done by making amendments. If you do so, the court's emphasis will not work.

Talk of review petition only a pretense
Congress said it is very clear that the government is only pretending to file a review petition to save itself. When the government has not yet provided the population figures of OBCs, nor has it done the triple test as per the directions of the Supreme Court and has also brought the ordinance in an unconstitutional manner before and later withdrew it, it is obvious that It is not the intention of the government to give 27 percent reservation to OBCs.
Still, the Congress party will wait for the filing of the review petition and the Supreme Court's decision on it. The Congress party is considering every possibility on its part as to how 27 percent reservation can be given to OBC category in Panchayat and civic elections. The Congress party will clearly raise this point among the public on every platform that the BJP government is continuously atrocities on the OBCs and wants to end their reservation.
The Congress party is apprehensive that BJP and RSS may conspire to end the reservation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the future by hatching a similar conspiracy. But the Congress party is ready to fight at every level to save the reservation given to the Dalit Adivasi and Backward Classes of the country in the constitution framed by Babasaheb Ambedkar.
