Relief in property- water tax- rent- other taxes of urban bodies

Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh told that with the decline in employment and other sectors due to Corona pandemic, citizens are facing difficulty in paying taxes and consumer charges of urban bodies. He said that in view of these conditions, decision has been taken to give exemption in the surcharge of various taxes. Shri Singh has said that such exemption was given to citizens even during the first wave of Corona.
Keeping in view the interests of the citizens, the state government has decided that citizens who will pay tax and consumer charges etc. to the urban bodies till July 31, 2021, they will not have pay surcharge for the period of 3 months from April to June, 2021.

Property tax 
Only 100 percent exemption in only surcharge will be given in the cases of property tax in which the remaining amount of tax and surcharge will be up to Rs 50 thousand. In the cases of property tax in which the remaining amount of tax and surcharge is up to Rs one lakh, 50 percent in only surcharge will be exempted and in those cases of property tax in which the remaining amount of tax and surcharge is more than Rs one lakh, 25 percent exemption in surcharge will be given.

Land rent
In the cases of land rent / rent of assets disposed by urban bodies, in which the total amount due including surcharge will be up to Rs 20 thousand, 100 percent exemption in surcharge only will be given, land rent / rent of assets disposed by urban bodies in such cases, in which the total amount due including surcharge will be between Rs 20 thousand and Rs 50 thousand, 50 percent in surcharge and in such cases of land rent / rent of assets disposed by urban bodies, in which the total due amount including surcharge is more than Rs 50 thousand, only 25 percent exemption will be given in only surcharge.

Water consumer charges / water cess
Cases of water consumer charges / water cess in which the amount of tax and surcharge will be up to Rs 10 thousand, 100 percent exemption will be given in surcharge only, in cases of water consumer charges / water cess in which the amount of tax and surcharge is more than Rs 10 thousand up to Rs 50 thousand, only 75 percent exemption will be given in surcharge and in cases of water consumer charges / water cess, where the amount of tax and surcharge is more than Rs 50 thousand, only 50 percent exemption will be given in surcharge.
Exemption will be given to such taxpayers/citizens who will pay the pending due amount till August 31st, 2021. This exemption will be applicable only on surcharge and will not be applicable on interest, stamp duty, basic tax, basic consumer charges or basic land rent/rent.

No surcharge from April to June for depositing tax by July 31
In view of Covid-19 prevention, Corona curfew and various restrictions have been imposed in most of the districts of the state in April and May 2021. Due to this, the citizens residing in the cities of the state have been facing difficulty in making timely payment of various taxes and consumer charges etc. of the urban bodies due to which, surcharges etc. have become payable on the said taxes and consumer charges.
