SC hints it may constitute committee to probe gangster Vikas Dubey encounter

New Delhi, (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday hinted that it may direct to form a committe headed by a Retired Judge to probe the killing of Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey and his accomplices, as was done in Hyderabad encounter case.

The top court has allowed the plea of Uttar Pradesh Government to find out the steps after the killings of eight policemen by the gangster and the subsequent encounters.

The Apex Court was hearing two petitions filed by a Mumbai-based lawyer, Ghanashyam Upadhayay and Anoop Awasthi, seeking direction to enquire into the encounters.

The petitioners claimed that the encounter seem to be fake prima facie, and to unravel the truth, there should be an inquiry and subsequently investigation to find out the truth.
