Samples of birds, crow from UK, UP & Rajasthan found negative for Bird Flu

New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) said on Sunday that the crow and pigeon samples submitted from Rudraprayag, Lansdowne Forest Range and Paudi Forest Range of Uttarakhand; pigeon samples from Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan crow and peacock samples from Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh have been found negative for Avian Influenza, commonly known as 'Bird Flu'.

The outbreak of Avian Flu has been spread to the poultry stocks of the nine states whereas the crow, migratory or wild birds of 12 States have been affected by this disease so far.

According to the DAHD, the outbreaks of Avian Influenza have been confirmed in Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab for poultry birds and the Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab have confirmed the spread for crow, migratory or wild birds till January 23.

The Control and Containment Operations (Cleaning and Disinfection) have been going on in the affected epicentres of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand and Kerala, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) said.

“Compensation is paid to farmers whose poultry birds, eggs and poultry feed are culled or disposed of by the State as per the Action Plan. Government of India provides funds to states and Union Territories 50:50 ratio sharing basis under ‘Assistance to States for Control of Animal Disease (ASCAD component of its Livestock Health and Disease Control.

All states have been reporting to the Department on a daily basis regarding the control measures adopted by them based on the Revised Action Plan for Prevention, Control and Containment of Avian Influenza 2021.

The Department has also been making continuous efforts to generate awareness about Avian through platforms including social media platforms like Twitter, Face book handles.
