Sensex ends firm at 30,932.90

The Indian equity market maintained its gaining streak intact for the third consecutive session on Thursday, as it rallied 114.29 points to finish at 30,932.90 on brisk buying in Auto, Metal, IT and FMCG stocks. 

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose 39.70 points to 9,106.25, 

The Nifty registered day's high and low at 9,178.55 and 9,056.10 respectively. 

In opening trade, the sensex rose 186 points to 30,904.29. During the day, it spurted nearly 370 points to 31,188.79. 

In late trade, it slipped from day's high, but closed positive only at 30,932.90, still up 114.29 points from its previous close. 

It registered day's low at 30,765.32 points. 

The sectoral indices like Consumer Discretionary Goods & Services, Auto, Metal and lT kept the market firm. 

However, selling in FMCG, Bankex, Capital Goods and Power restricted from further gains, broker informed. 

In scrips, ITC, Asian paints, HeroMoto Corp, Maruti Suzuki and Bajaj Auto went up while NTPC, Bajaj finance, HDFC and L&T declined. 

The Mid cap rose by 0.76 pc and Small cap by 0.72 pc. 

In 30 scrips of BSE, 16 advanced, 13 declined and one remained unchanged.
