Showers lash city; monsoon activities to increase in state

Showers lashed city on Saturday. Clouds enveloped the city skies and it became dark due to heavy clouds in the afternoon. The showers started at about 5 pm and continued for nearly an hour. Intermittent light showers continued till night. 
With the increase in monsoon activities in the Bay of Bengal, the expectation of good rains has increased in the state. In Bhopal also, the period of drizzling rain and light showers continues. During the last 24 hours also, there was heavy rain in many areas of the state. Now in the next 24 hours, the activities of monsoon will increase more across the state. Due to this, there will be good rain in many areas for the next 4 days, while there will be light rain in some areas as well.
Meteorologist PK Saha said, due to this system, the rain situation is likely to improve in the state. Light rainfall is likely at Niwari, Orchha, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Dindori, Mandla along with Shahdol, Umaria, Jabalpur, Katni, Damoh, Balaghat, Seoni, Khandwa, Shivpuri and Burhanpur during next 24 hours.
The Monsoon Trough is extending east to Bengal via Bikaner, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Gaya and Malda. Cyclonic activity is active over Northwest Rajasthan, Northeast Arabian Sea-Saurashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and East-central Bay of Bengal. Along with this, a low pressure area is likely to develop over north-central Bay of Bengal around September 6. Due to this, light rainfall is expected in Bhopal and Indore during the next 24 hours, while there may be good rains in the state for 4 days thereafter.

Over 12 cm rainfall in Khajuraho
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions in the next 24 hours. At the same time, rain may occur at isolated places in Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Ujjain, Indore, Gwalior and Chambal divisions. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Vidisha and Balaghat.
During the last 24 hours, Khajuraho received 5 inches (12.5 cm), Naugaon, 1.5 inches, Panchmarhi, Datia 1 inch each, Seoni, Sagar, Damoh received half an inch to one and a half inches of rain. Rainfall also occurred at isolated places in Rewa, Gana, Raisen, Khandwa, Maljkhand, Tikamgarh, Chhindwara, Satna, Narsinghpur, Bhopal, Umaria, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
