Varun Gandhi writes to Yogi Adityanath over agricultural issues


New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) BJP leader Varun Gandhi has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath drawing his attention to agricultural issues in the state, and demanded the price of sugarcane to be increased to Rs 400 per quintal, here on Sunday.

Varun Gandhi tweeted his letter on Sunday and said: "My letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji, hope the demands of the sons of earth will be heard".

Varun Gandhi demanded that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugarcane should be increased to Rs 400 per quintal in 2021-22, ensuring procurements at MSP for paddy and wheat, using MNREGA workers for agriculture and subsidy in diesel prices for farmers.

He also urged the state government to contribute to the PM Kisan Nidhi so that farmers in the state can get Rs 12,000 per year instead of Rs 6,000.

Varun Gandhi, who is a BJP MP from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, had supported the farmers on September 5 as well, when farmers held a 'Mahapanchayat' in Muzaffarnagar, and had said there is a need to “understand the pain of farmers".
