A day after cabinet expansion, Maharashtra Cong Ministers meet Sonia, Rahul


New Delhi, A day after the cabinet expansion, Congress Ministers in Maharashtra on Tuesday met party president Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi, in the national capital. The Ministers, and the Congress team, accompanied by party general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC organisational general secretary KC Venugopal and AICC secretary Ashish Dua, met the party leadership at their respective residences.

The meeting took place, at a time when the reports indicated that some senior party leaders, who were not inducted in the cabinet, were not happy.According to party leaders, the purpose of the Minister's meeting with the leadership to discuss the future of the party in the state and further course of action. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had on Monday expanded his Cabinet by inducting 36 ministers, including his son Aaditya Thackeray and NCP's Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Minister.

In the 43-member Cabinet, the Shiv Sena has 16 including Chief Minister, NCP has 15 and the Congress has 12, including Balasaheb Thorat and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. The Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress alliance formed the government in the state after BJP's Devendra Fadnavis government resigned due to lack of numbers.
