A man arrested for allegedly harassing Tendulkar’s daughter

Agencies, Kolkata A Mumbai Police team arrested a man from Andulia village of Mahishadal in East Medinipur district of West Bengal for allegedly harassing Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara over phone. According to reports, based on a complaint filed by Tendulkar family at Bandra Police Station, Mumbai Police’s crime branch made the arrest. “The team of Mumbai Police’s crime and investigation branch booked the accused, Debkumar Maity last night,” he said.“Days ago, Tendulkar family lodged a complaint at Bandra Police Station alleging that Sachin Tendulkar’s office received anonymous phone calls more than 20 times where the caller had been continuously proposing Sachin’s daughter for marriage,” a senior official of Mumbai Police’s crime branch said. “After starting probe into the matter, we traced the anonymous caller’s mobile number and identified the person. Finally, taking assistance from local police, our officers arrested the accused caller from West Bengal on Saturday,” he said. “We will appeal to the court for a transit remand that we can take Debkumar to Mumbai for further investigation,” the official added. Debkumar, who is popular in his locality as a painter, allegedly proposed Tendulkar’s daughter over phone several times however his family has now claimed that the man is mentally unstable.
